The pinnacle of endurance motorsport is the 24 hours of Le Mans.  In 1955, Mercedez had an excellent shot at taking the crown.  Unfortunately, things didn't go to plan for Pierre Levegh, their number two driver.  A tale of speed, split-second decisions, and the chemical properties of magnesium.
